First accomplishment of Project Pan June 2019 kicked off with Kama Ayurveda Ubtan! I finished off this ubtan yesterday night, so happy to see 1 thing getting ticked from my Project Pan list.

Kama Ayurveda Ubtan

What is it?

A non-drying, daily body cleanser packed with natural nutrients that gently clean and exfoliate for fresh and healthy skin.

Brand Claims

This invigorating body cleanser is packed with essential herbs and minerals so as to promote healthy and fresh skin. Traditionally used after Ayurvedic treatments to clean skin, it can be used as an alternative to soap. A combination of finely powdered herbs, cereals, pulses and nuts with no harmful laurel sulphates, this formula softens and smoothes while effectively cleansing and exfoliating. Amongst its many powerful ingredients are Oatmeal, Green Gram, Almonds, Neem, Turmeric and Fennel. Regular use will balance and retexturise the skin helping reduce the appearance of cellulite. Warming and stimulating, it leaves you feeling alert and refreshed with skin that is noticeably smoother and glowing.

How to Apply?

Mix some powder into hand with water to make a wet paste. Apply to moist skin. Lightly massage with circular motions and rinse clean to lift dead skin and release oil, toxins, and environmental pollutants.

Ingredients

Kama Ayurveda Ubtan has minimal yet effective ingredients – oatmeal, almond, neem, sandalwood, camphor, fennel and fenugreek.

Oatmeal and almond have cleansing properties. Almonds and fenugreek maintain the moisture well on skin and doesn’t leave it dry.

Neem, sandalwood and camphor hold great antibacterial properties to fight with any skin issues.

Turmeric is an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent. Due to its anti-aging and anti-microbial qualities, it is widely used for cosmetic purposes. It is useful in cases of abnormal Kapha and Pitta, and many skin diseases. It is used in many sunscreens. Its paste helps in getting rid of excess hair.

Almond replenishes the lost nutrients in the skin, reduces acne and makes the skin look healthier. Its oil is mild and can be used as a moisturiser. It is also used for massages. It reduces breakage, split ends, itchy scalp, dry roots and flat hair. It softens the scalp, and makes the hair look shiny, silky and healthy.

Neem has medicinal qualities. It purifies the blood, enhances beauty and is highly anti-bacterial in nature. Neem leaf extract is used in face packs, body wraps and for acne-prone skin. Neem oil helps keep the skin elasticity intact, and is used to prepare cosmetics. Its seeds and leaves cure even those chronic skin conditions that conventional treatments fail to treat. It also improves conditions such as dandruff, scaling and hair loss.

Oatmeal is ideal for sensitive skin because it is an excellent moisturiser with skin healing, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and itch relieving benefits. The gritty nature of oats makes it an excellent scrub for sensitive skin that cannot tolerate the usual exfoliators.

It is excellent for treating various skin diseases and fighting inflammation. It also has a cleansing and toning effect on the skin and helps in cases of oily skin, and fighting wrinkles. It also acts as a moisturizer when added to body lotions and has a naturally calming effect.

Kama Ayurveda Ubtan review

Texture and Fragrance

It smells all natural, herbal and ayurvedic. It doesn’t smell pleasant but it’s ok seeing the ingredients. The particles are coarse but very fine and even – perfect for a body exfoliant.

Note: The particles are kept perfectly coarse for body, it is not to be used on face.

My Experience

I really enjoyed using this ubtan. I added some water into to and let it sit for a while to activate. Then applied on wet skin and massaged it in circular motions and rinsed off. It cleanses the skin and takes out all the dirt, gunk and dead cells. Unlike many ubtans, this did not dry out my skin – thanks to almonds and fenugreek. The best part is In spite of having turmeric, the ubtan doesn’t leave any yellow stains on towel or clothes. I love how fine the particles are – I have experienced very uneven particles especially with ubtans from Indian brands but not the case with Kama.
