Hola! I am reviewing my most favourite line by favourite brand Dear Klairs today. Klairs is a Korean skincare brand which has great formulations especially for sensitive skin. They are very receptive to the feedback of customers/influencers and they always come up with what their audience wants. Reformulation of Midnight blue sunscreen, providing vegan version of midnight blue cream, launching unscented version of supple preparation toner are a few examples. You must have seen Midnight Blue Cream and Youth Activating Drop a lot in my posts. I am finally dropping the review after usage of 1 year. (I know it is too long – please be kind, I am trying hard to finish off pending reviews.)
Guaiazulene which is extract of chamomile is star ingredient of this line. Both of these products have very high amount of guaiazulene and hence the beautiful blue hue in both. These products are high performance and great for damaged barrier skin types.
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop
Description & Claims
This night serum reduces fine lines and wrinkles using a dual peptide formula strengthened by EGF (sh-Oligopeptide-1) and bFGF (sh-Polypeptide-1). Ten ingredients fight and prevent aging to maintain youthful-looking skin.
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop is jam packed with 10 ingredients to prevent aging. Guaiazulene has given beautiful blue hue to this. It has dual peptide formula. EGF aka Epidermal Growth Factor stimulates cell growth. It contains blueberry extract, lecithin and much more.
Full Ingredient List of Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop
Water, Butylene Glycol, sh-Oligopeptide-1, sh-Polypeptide-1, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Lecithin, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glycerin, Chlorphenesin, Guaiazulene, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine
This serum is housed in amber glass dropper bottle. Outer box with all instructions is provided. It is a 20ml bottle.
Texture, Fragrance & Hue
Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop has watery light weight consistency. It absorbs very quickly. I apply this before toner step because this is watery thin. It has pretty blue hue and no fragrance. Serum turns gray over time which is normal and due to guaiazulene.
My Experience with Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop
I purchased 2 bottles of this beautiful serum because of the ingredients and of course to prevent aging. I was dealing with acne episode back then and I thought this will be great to calm my skin. This serum actually prevented my skin from being textured. Cystic acne left mild pits and that area looked aged than other parts of face. This serum actually helped a lot to get back the original elasticity and even out the texture.
The only thing I did not like is the quantity offered. It is 20ml bottle which finishes off quickly. I want this serum in bigger 50ml packaging because 20ml is too less. But yes, this serum has worked brilliantly on my skin. Many people claim that this serum is doing nothing apart from calming. I would say that it does work in long run plus you can only notice the difference if you have compromised barrier or some skin issue. It does prevent aging but as I said it takes months to show results and 1 bottle wouldn’t be enough to notice the difference.

My Experience with Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream
Let me talk about my skin type. My facial skin is combination, sensitive, acne prone and body skin is sensitive. My body usually takes up everything in normal course but NOTHING in case of wounds. Also, I have allergy to all kind of metals except gold and platinum. Lower body can take up pure silver but nothing else apart from these – not even steel. (my family members always say, your body loves all expensive stuff). I make very sure that clothes do not have buttons or accessories directly touching to skin. I don’t wear wrist watch often as I get allergy.
I have used this cream in all cases. When I had severe wound on body, this cream did not work – usually nothing works but worsens so I cannot accuse this cream. In cases of mild scratches or redness this cream has given me amazing results. It cools down the skin in few moments.
I use this cream on the days when I see redness or irritation. I apply this after serum and before moisturizer in PM routine. If I use this in AM, I do not use any further moisturizer. This cream works excellently to calm down redness or allergy or sunburn. Many people use this as a moisturizer but I use it only when I need. It is precious, I don’t like using it daily. Brand also advices to use it when your skin faces irritation or post shaving.
This cream has worked amazingly on redness, irritation and sunburns. However, it has not worked on acne. It truly does what it claims.
To me, this is a great calming treatment that I will keep on repurchasing. I really want to try the newly launched gel sunscreen in the same line.
