As the monsoon started, I started looking for a light sunscreen as SPF35-40 is enough when there is no very harsh sunlight. My second tube of Klairs sunscreen is about to finish and I am saving it even though I have a backup. Klairs sunscreen is very pricey so I don’t want to use it for monsoon. I had been eyeing the newly launched sunscreen by plum which is their Green Tea Day Light Sunscreen Gel SPF35. Amazon had really good discount on this, my friend Sonali from skincarevilla shared about the offer and I grabbed this one.
I wanted something which neither makes skin oily nor hydrate – something that would just stay on skin and protect from the sun, nothing extra. Majority of sunscreens designed for combination-oily skin suck moisture from skin which I definitely did not want. I have had such a bad experience with another sunscreen on the same brand – plum sheer matte sunscreen. But I thought to give this a try. Continue reading to know how it worked on me!
About Plum Goodness
Plum is a 100% vegan and PETA certified cruelty free skincare brand of India. The brand is free from parabens, phthalates, animal-derived ingredients, propylene glycol, SLS, PABA, DEA and other harmful chemicals. Plum donates 1% of its sales to environmental non-profits, as a proud member of One Percent for the Planet. Brand has very good range for men and women. Their green tea range is cult favourite for oily skinned beauties. Plum has reward program and it takes back the packaging for recycling which is commendable.
What’s Plum Green Tea Day Light Sunscreen Gel?
Plum describes it as Light Heavyweight
Light feel, heavy duty. Day in, day out. Created with love, especially for oily and acne-prone skin. The sheer light-wear comfort of this non-comedogenic, SPF35 + UVA sunscreen gel puts the fun back into being in the sun.
Plum Green Tea Day Light Sunscreen Gel comes in a plastic tube which is housed in a cardboard box. The box has embossed glossy imprints which looks classy. The white and green combination looks minimal and clean. All the information is printed on the box and important things on tube. The tube has flip-flop cap which is very convenient to use. The 50ml packaging is very light and easy to travel with. I like this packaging.
Texture and Fragrance
As you can see from picture, it is a white gel. It has the same fragrance that’s present in green tea night clarity gel. I don’t like clarity gel don’t know why. The fragrance could be a turn off for sensitive noses. I dint like it initially, but now I am habituated so it doesn’t bother me. I wish Plum releases fragrance free options. I don’t like artificial fragrance in skincare.
I take some amount of sunscreen from tube, dot it on face, neck and spread it. The gel formula is really great to spread. It spreads easily on skin without much effort. I am very much happy to see the ZERO white caste. The gel feels very cooling on skin. The only thing I don’t like is its artificial fragrance. Plum Green Tea Day Light Sunscreen Gel leaves a dewy kind of finish behind which I love. I like dewy finish over mattes.
I dint see any oiliness for few hours. My combination skin is oily these days and no matter what – I have to wipe off excess oil after some hours. This sunscreen doesn’t make my skin very oily. My skin stays the same if I use this gel sunscreen or not. I am very delighted to see no greasiness – no dryness – no shine. I dint notice any breakouts as well. It is very easily spreadable even on dry skin. I don’t have to use a mist prior to reapplying Plum Green Tea Day Light Sunscreen Gel. So yes, I am very happy with this purchase.

If you are looking for a light weight sunscreen which does not have higher SPF, which does not hydrate your skin and which does not absorb moisture from skin, this is the right one. It just sits on skin and does it job. I wish plum launches this gel with SPF50 too. However, if you are looking for something which keeps your skin matte and absorbs excess oil, this will disappoint you.
