Many times, we do a lot of research in search of finding a good product. We read enough reviews from trusted bloggers and make up mind to buy.
But, we often forget the fact that each skin type is different and so even if the product suits to everyone, the same might not suit you! And when it happens, we end up using the product because of its hefty price tag or pass it on to someone who we think would like it and many times the product lies on shelf reminding of the stupid decision.
Listing down the purchases that are blocking my shelf gathering dust and reminding me of the price tag each time I open the skincare cabinet.
Avene Very High Protection Cream SPF50+
This sunscreen is expensive but I was blown away when I came to know that the formula has paraben free UVA + UVB filters, it is water resistant, 100% photo stable and it does not leave a white caste. Moreover, it is designed for sensitive skin which I have. It provides really good miniaturization throughout the day but it is too hard to blend. Also, it leaves a nice white caste on my wheatish Indian skin tone. Its thick formula requires really good blending. On top of everything, it leaves a white caste. Now, I can’t use it and can’t throw it – it is too expensive. I won’t recommend this to anyone at all.

Plum Chamomile & White Tea Sheer Matte Day Cream SPF50 PA+++
I had very high hopes from plum products as they are 100% vegan, free from nasties. This sunscreen contains the goodness of chamomile, white tea, gingko biloba, green tea, rooibos, ninacinamide. It is good if you have very oily or oily skin. However, please don’t use this if you have normal/dry/combination skin. It sucks oil from skin which is not required on normal/dry areas. My cheeks were into flakes at the end of day as I have combination skin. Additionally, it leaves a powdery matte finish. I like dewy finish over matte – this is a personal choice. Powder like weird fragrance too is a no-no for me. Matte finish or powder like fragrance doesn’t bother me but the drying formula does. It might be a good budget friendly option for oily skin types.

Greenberry Organics Daily Detox Charcoal Gel Mask
I had very high hopes from this aloe gel mask. I haven’t read any single negative review of this gel yet. Moreover, tt has impressive ingredients such as aloe leaf juice, activated charcoal, green tea extract, clove oil, jojoba oil, tea tree oil. So I bought it without any second thought. In spite of having such amazing ingredients, my face dint like this gel. The gel detoxifies the skin really well and leaves it squeaky clean. But it stings a lot on my sensitive skin. It is due to the strong artificial fragrance added to it. My skin literally cried when I applied this. I did apply this when my skin was not sensitised and was in quite good condition but it stinged every single time I applied. It is a really nice gel if you don’t have any breakouts, redness, allergies or sensitivities.
