Hey guys! I am up with my first product from the INKEY list today. I am suffering from body scars, I have never used any exfoliating toners on body yet. Team INKEY suggested me to include PHA toner since it is super gentle on skin. I have finished this one and here is my review. This is my first ever PHA aka PolyHydroxy Acid.
What is PHA aka PolyHydroxy Acid?
PolyHydroxy Acid is chemical exfoliant – it is gentler than AHA and very good for sensitive skin. Molecules of PHA are larger than molecules nof AHA. And PHA doesn’t dry out skin unlike AHA.
Designed to revitalise dull, dry and congested complexions, this formula calls upon poly-hydroxy acids to gently exfoliate the upper layer of your skin: clearing dead skin cells and blocked pores. The beauty of this toner lies in the natural humectant properties of PHAs, which improves your skin’s ability to retain moisture, promising an enriching and sensitive-friendly exfoliating moment. Combined with the incredibly nourishing and gentle aloe barbadensis leaf juice to prevent future dryness and a 3% niacinamide solution to help minimise pores, improve your texture and dump dullness, there’s nothing not to love about this toner.
Price: £8.5 Or 740 INR
Shelf Life: 6 months after opening
Consistency & Smell
INKEY List PHA Toner has watery thin consistency. It has some mild smell which is not added and it fades in few minutes.
This toner comes in flip top plastic bottle. It was leaky a bit, not sure if my bottle was faulty or not. Outer box is provided but I threw it since it was ruined.
How to use INKEY List PHA Toner?
Use in the AM or PM. Sweep over cleansed skin. Follow with preferred serums and moisturiser.
Water (Aqua / Eau), Propanediol, Gluconolactone, Niacinamide, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Ppg-26-Buteth-26, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide
My Experience with INKEY List PHA Toner
I have used this on face a few times and very regularly on body. Usually my skin tends dry due to chemical exfoliation but INKEY List PHA Toner did not make my skin dry even a bit. Hands down, one of the best exfoliating toners so far it is. After using it for almost one and a half months, I did notice reduction in scars. Initially, you will feel that this is doing nothing but be patient and use it consistently. It is super gentle and safe to use once in a day – preferable in PM routine. Never forget wearing a broad spectrum SPF during day time. After all, it is a chemical exfoliant and it could cause photosensitivity.
I mostly use this in PM routine after cleansing my skin. I use this and let it absorb completely and then follow up with serum and moisturiser for face and use a body butter for body. I have not felt tingling sensation or dryness at all.
- Do not use any other chemical exfoliant in same routine
- Stop using if it gives you buring sensation
- Always wear broad spectrum sunscreen
If you have very sensitive skin or if you are a beginner with chemical exfoliation, INKEY List PHA Toner is the best option, consider this as a godsent product. It is too gentle and works effectively at the same time. I cannot recommend this beautiful toner enough. It is one of the best chemical exfoliants and extremely gentle on skin. However, do consult dermatologist if your skin is too sensitive and never forget wearing a broad spectrum SPF during day time. Also, if you have used stronger chemical exfoliants, this won’t be a good option for you since it is very gentle.
